Travelife has provided a wide range of online resources that accommodation providers can use to help them comply with the Travelife Standard, and, for those who wish to aim for excellence, to go beyond our minimum requirements.
These resources are contained in an online Member Zone. A special HQ Member Zone is available for the head office staff of ChainConnect Members to help them prepare for audits across their portfolio.
Whilst there is a range of tools and information available, there are three sets of resources in the Member Zone that specifically relate to audit preparation.
THE TRAVELIFE CHECKLIST
This area of the Member Zone contains the checklists in both PDF and MS Word format. It also contains the Animal Welfare appendices (we will cover these later).
THE SUSTAINABILITY TOOLKIT
This contains over 60 documents relating to all areas of the Travelife Standard. They are all available in English and Spanish, with Greek and Turkish versions being deployed by the end of 2020. These include four main types of documents.
Detailed guides
These cover the core subject areas of energy, water, waste, hazardous substances, human rights, labour, child safeguarding, biodiversity, animal welfare, community engagement and sustainable procurement. Click here to view an example.
Templates
These are the most commonly used templates and most are in the form of spreadsheets. They include things like energy reports, hazardous substance registers and legal registers. Click here to view the template for recording water consumption.
Quick guides
These are always one page and describe how to carry out a required task in six steps or fewer. For example, how to measure water flow or how to write a child safeguarding policy. Click here to view the Quick Guide to converting energy to kWh.
Examples
These are generally used for policies and templates so that Members can get ideas for how to compile their own information. Click here to view the example of an environmental policy.
AUDIT PREPARATION PLAN
Travelife has prepared a simple six-step plan for Members to follow when preparing for their audit. This covers things like carrying out a self-assessment, creating an action plan, which staff should be involved and audit day logistics such as reconfirming dates and times with their auditor, ensuring the right staff are available and that the auditor can access all areas of their property. This six-step plans includes links to a variety of other resources such as the Travelife Checklists, the Sustainability Toolkit and an audit day checklist that you can click here to view.
TRAVELIFE CUSTOMER SUPPORT
This dedicated team provides general support to all Members and also helps field technical enquiries to the right person on the team. They can also help Members find the right resources in the Member Zone.
THE TECHNICAL ZONE
This is different from the Member Zone and is used specifically for auditing. There is a secure area where Members can complete a self-assessment. When auditing a property, an auditor logs into this area to see if a self-assessment has been completed and to review any subsequent information. Members also log in to the Technical Zone to view their audit report after it has been quality checked by Travelife and it will show them what improvements need to be made, or if they need to undergo a repeat audit.
