Travelife requires that all certified hotels provide regular training for staff on how to identify and report signs of child exploitation and abuse.  Sitia Beach City Resort & Spa have taken this a step further by providing some more detailed seminars on child safeguarding issues such as child abuse, neglect and abduction. 

In addition to a number of community and social programmes the hotel supports, they help to raise money for orphaned children and donate meals to a local soup kitchen that caters for families in poverty.  They also support the Greek NGO Chamogelo tou paidiou (The Smile of a Child) that provides a number of interventions to help keep Greek children safe and healthy, with a specific focus on domestic violence, abduction, poverty and health.  The hotel donates complimentary rooms to the NGO’s staff when they need overnight stays in order to support children in the Sitia area.
