Each month in 2021 we feature a property that has made outstanding achievements in sustainability. Our theme in September is responsible travel and we selected this resort due to the efforts they have made to engage their guests on how to improve their environmental and social impacts.
TUI BLUE Grand Azur use an app to communicate with guests about both the work this property does, and how guests can get involved. This ensures that sustainability is threaded into the guest experience and saves paper! The BLUE App is used to tell guests about how the hotel cares for local stray cats and dogs, and invites them to participate in events, such as the recent presentation from a local sea turtle conservation group, DEKAMER, who explained about the protection of Caretta caretta turtles who frequent local beaches.
Guests are also invited to take part in fundraising initiatives, including a recent campaign to support local fire fighters working in the recent Turkish forest fires, and another that involves collecting plastic water bottle caps that are sent to TOFD, a charity working to improve access for disabled people.
Guests are given opportunities to take a more hands-on approach to conservation, with many participating alongside resort staff in a sea clean-up operation, something the property hopes to continue on a monthly basis.
